This is what I am currently spending a month to access the internet now a days. It consists of two cell phones with data and home based internet usage. This gives me access to surf the web on my cell phones whenever I desire too, and at home on my computer.
The question I am proposing is, is it worth it to spend 90 dollars a month for internet?
Obviously I do not think so, because being a personal finance blogger and a frugal person I think this is way too expensive. I mean what do you think service providers will do to the internet service from here? They are looking for ways to get more out of us with reduced data packages while jacking up costs.
If you break down your average day most of us spend 8 hours at work and another 6 hours at home after work with access to the web, so why must we have another secondary computer in our pockets to access the same web we can from work or home? Granted if you go to a birthday party or another family event then for gosh sakes you might die if you do not have access to check the web aka Facebook. How about we change things and actually focus on the event itself and socialize.
Costs BreakDown:
- 2 Cell Phones = $60 Data Package per Month
- Home Internet Triple Play Service = $30 Average per Month (Only Internet Portion of bill)
I just think this is a ridiculous amount just to access the web. Remember the old days when AOL was 24.99 a month and it was Dial up internet service. Now we have blazing fast 4G speeds, so I guess we have to pay more right?
But then I wonder why do some companies have unlimited talk, text and web for around 50 bucks a month in total. Companies like Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobil, and Metro PCS. Why do the major players still want some much dough for Data without offering any extra services when compared to these companies I mentioned? Maybe the service might be a supar in specific areas, but you will never know if you do not give these companies a shot.
If you break it down Virgin Mobil has an unlimited Talk, text, and web plan for 45 dollars a month, that means that under this plan you will pay 15 a month for web usage. I personally am happy that there is competition like this out there and hopefully the major companies will get their act straight and lower their costs or else they will feel my wrath.
Comment and let us know how much you fork over a month just to use the internet? Also comment if you feel it is worth it to spend 90 dollars a month for Internet?

A no brainer imo! Especially if it can be a business expense!
Yeah I know, I have to make adjustments to this in 2013. Thanks for the comment Sam.
