I see it everyday people rushing everywhere and all you really see is the dust behind them. The fast pace phenomenon of America is really picking up every year in my opinion. I live in the Northeast so it is multiplied by at least 2 times in my area when compared to the rest of the country. Now the topic I want to discuss with you today is about mobile banking and if it is really worth it for us to have such luxuries. Do you have mobile banking?
Granted in ten years people might laugh at us folks because we had the gall to walk up to a teller to make a deposit in the old days. So with all the convenience we are getting with mobile banking, what price are we paying as a country? Do you have Mobile banking and is it really worth it for us?
The features and benefits of Mobile Banking:
The ability to make deposits from a smart phone
Can make transfers from account to account
View Pending Transactions in Real Time
The ability to make a bill pay from your smart phone
The ability to save on gas and transportation costs
Removal of awkward marketing pitches by tellers
The Downside to Mobile Banking:
People will steadily become lazier to walk with all these systems in place (Another thing to keep us sitting)
People will lose jobs, Thousands of tellers.
Security concerns due to secure information roaming in cyber space
Daily interactions with others take step back, less communicating culture
More revenue for the banks (Already are too big to fail)
Banks will justify the downsizing due to Automation and Convenience
The point of the post is to really think about the modern conveniences that we have today, if they add or take value away from our lives. In addition to our lives if they also might change the society as a whole. Who in the end really benefits when all these new conveniences appear to supposedly save us time? Those teller jobs are great jobs for college students, single mothers, and others interested in part time work. Before you do or sign up for something think about the effect in totality based off that decision.
I wanted to sign up for this service but now that I thought it over I am on the fence. I will probably not do it for the reasons above. I originally wanted to save time, but now I feel it is not as bad if it means people will lose jobs. The same could be said for Supermarkets now having more automated self-pay check outs. Also the same goes for highway toll jobs with the super-fast EZ pass lanes. When will the time come when we have too much convenience, thus a detriment towards the society by hurting the citizens and padding the companies’ profits? I believe it is already here, and we are not doing anything to stop it.
Do you have mobile banking?

I also question whether an app or other online application will save me time before signing up and there is not much in this regard that I have done for "convenience". That being said, I am a mobile banker. I find it definitely saves me time as I only have to visit a brick and mortar bank maybe once a year.
I understand the time saving idea behind mobile banking, but I will still go and make deposits the old way. I feel I am helping people keep jobs and I love walking. I consider it a small mind break from my job or blogging.
