A new series is born today, with the premise that I now will let you in to see what were the things that I spent the last hundred dollars on. Imagine if you had only a hundred dollars to your name, what would you spend it on? The last hundred dollars is a way to lighten up the financial blogosphere with something unique. Yeah I could give you a bunch of boring spreadsheets showing my monthly net worth, but that’s been done a thousand times over. Also part of me is still hesitant to fully reveal my financial numbers in all its lowly glory. What will this accomplish, maybe nothing. But it sure is exciting to see what people spend money on, don’t you think.
This obviously will not be a 1000 word post, explaining what a Venn diagram is and how that will benefit your probable retirement. No it’s basically just a list of all the items I recently purchased that sum up to the last hundred dollars. By the way have you seen the new $100 dollar bill, it looks futuristic in every way possible. At first I thought what an un-American thing to do with all those annoying colors schemes. The dollar should forever be remembered as classic green. But then it dawned on me we are trying to out-fancy the Euro currency with some style and fashion sprucing. Now let’s jump into what crazy items add up to a big ben franklin.
The Last Hundred Dollars:
Brew-Ski (12) – I got an ice cold 12 pack to accompany my delicious dinner. This 12 pack was so cold, that ice cube got jealous once again. Beer is to adults what soda is to teens. If you’re over 23 and you still drink soda, come on man grow up.
Work Clothes (73) – I needed a new pair of slacks and a new bold colored button down work shirt. I lost some pounds in the last few months and basically two of my slacks look baggy now. Oh the travesty! Losing weight has cost me to spend money, and to tell you the truth I don’t like to spend money. (Unless it’s on beer and blogging)
Dinner for the family – (15) – Because I lost weight and had to buy some clothes after work, time did not allow for a home cooked dinner. The next best option was to pick up something on the way home, and that is exactly what I did. I was happy to spend the dollars for inconveniencing the family for my wardrobe benefit. The food tasted awesome partly because I rarely eat out and because I got new clothes. Man this consumerism feeling is like you’re on cloud 9. No wonder some people live at the mall, they are always high off of new stuff.
So this concludes my first series on the last hundred dollars to leave my hands. Ben franklin was crying all the way into others hands, but at least it was for a good cause. I wonder, with a thinking man pose, what did you spend the last hundo on? Do you want to be brave and reveal it below? Be my guest and I will forever be grateful and indebted to you.
Fun series 🙂 You should have guests come on and do similar exercises too. I can’t recall which site does this, but I’ve seen it before and it’s always fun to read about. People love seeing real-life stories with money!
