A new series is born today, with the premise that now I will let you in to see what were the last things that I spent a hundred dollars on. Imagine if you had only a hundred dollars to your name, what would you spend it on? The last hundred is a way to lighten up the financial blogosphere with something unique. Yeah I could give you a bunch of boring spreadsheets showing my monthly net worth, but that’s been done a thousand times over. Also part of me is still hesitant to fully reveal my financial numbers in all its lowly glory. What will this accomplish, maybe nothing. But it sure is exciting to see what people spend money on, don’t you think.
The summer is about two months away and I am getting prepared for it with some new apparel. See below for the last hundred dollars.
The Last Hundred Dollars:
–Basketball Shorts $20 – I am in a Men’s Basketball League and I needed new shorts to help me with my jump shot. (Ha) This is my 3rd time playing in a league the last two years.
–Swim Suits for my kids $80 – The girls will be taking swim lessons this spring and their suits from last year are too small. So guess what Daddy had to bring out his wallet and get new ones. I believe swimming lessons is a great skill to teach the kids. It will alleviate nervousness when they are in the water, and can hopefully prevent water accidents.
–City Harvest – $100 + ($100*) – I give to a favorite charity about 4 times a year. So this quarter I gave to this one. They provide food for needy people in New York City.
So this concludes the third series on the last hundred. Ben franklin is still crying all the way into others hands, but at least it was for a good cause. I got to give a little to charity, upgraded my basketball wardrobe, and gave my twin daughters swim suits for their upcoming lessons. If you add up the totals I spent about $200 dollars not $100. Well I don’t really count the charity amount, and I included it here because a full post to say I gave to charity might be pretty non-climatic. I feel that we all should give back from time to time. It keeps us grounded and beats the greed away with a stick. There’s too much of it going around. Plus City harvest will get a bonus as my employer matches 100% on my first $100 dollar donation every year.*
I wonder with a thinking man pose, what did you spend the last hundo on? Do you want to be brave and reveal it below? I will be indebted to you and honored if you would volunteer below. Thanks.

PS – The figures above are rounded up and down to eliminate the geekiness behind adding decimals.
PPS – If the figures don’t add up to a hundred you suck at math
I love this idea. My last $100 were spent on a voice lesson. Unfortunately, that's all in one place, which is why I can only afford to go once a month :/
