Like it or not we are either born as savers or spenders. It is just a part of our DNA, and it can dramatically affect our lives when it comes to dealing with finances. The way to hack your inner self is to realize which one you are, and learn how to change the code within your DNA.
No we are not literally changing our DNAs, but we can use financially intricate systems to help us become something we are not and transform our behaviors. The best secret to impart change is to decipher the errors, take notes, begin to implement, and make the positive changes consistent. The definition of consistent means sticking to things for the long haul aka years and decades.
Saver or Spender
If you are a saver as I am, you get joy out of actually doing that behavior with every occasion you save money. It doesn’t matter how often the saving takes place; we savers always get a sense of happiness when we place money aside. Now on the flip side we get unhappy when we have to spend on something that holds little to no value.
Savers just visualize those moments as opportunities wasted, and it is very hard to negate the facts around buying some product that is worthless to us non-spendthrifts. But that doesn’t mean we should give up spending in totality, because then it can be a negative in many aspects of life. Everything is based off a delicate balance, and it will benefit all savers to maintain that financial balance. Savers please attempt to spend some $$ on occasion without feeling guilty.
Saver – this group should get help from a special spender who can help them get out of the cycle of over saving and live a little. They might help them spend for experiences, or things that matter to them after discussing what the saver’s interests are, all money will be set aside just for spending. It can be about 1/3 to ½ of the amount the saver is saving on a monthly basis to make it a dedicated easy system to remember. Example = Save 500 monthly – Spend around 100-150 monthly fun money.
Spender or Saver
If you are a spender for as long as you can remember, be open to getting some advice. Obviously it is ludicrous if you spend every penny you have, and you know that as well as everyone else does. DO you know that by living life on the financial edge you are at risk for so many financial mishaps? Now please keep in mind that I am not telling you to stop spending, am I just trying to get across that you aka spenders need to save some dollars.
The sweet spot for anyone starting out is $50-75 dollars per paycheck or per month. This is not that hard to accomplish when compared to the average monthly income. Obviously you might feel that this forced savings trick is causing you pain, and taking away from the pleasure of spending. But it is just as important to maintain a balance for spenders just like the savers above. It will help you have a good grasp and control on your financial life.
Spender – This group should get help from a special saver who can help get them to cut back on spending and to set up an automatic saving behavior. The trick is to set aside a set amount ($50-75) every month immediately after pay day so the amount is transferred before they can get access to it. The funds will go to an online account, and no debit card should be requested for this account. Less access provides greater results.
Any extreme in both situations is never a good scenario as it will bring those people some type of lifestyle drawback.
By now you should know if you’re a saver or a spender because it will help you find the proper balance with finances.

I was raised a saver. I've gotten a little lax (by my standards) and started spending a little bit more than I used to. Blame my husband for that one, but it does mean I'm slowly learning to live in the moment from time to time.
Still, my overall attitude is to put away money first and spend what's left.

Ok well at least your finding a proper money balance, good luck miss saver.
I'm a saver but a spender on things that are important to me. It does stress me out to spend money and I would rather avoid all stores in order to not spend but the hubby has helped balance me out in this area;0)

That is awesome you are a saver also, I didn’t expect that with the name of your site. Haha I hope you have great success in 2015 with your savings goals.
I'm definitely a saver…my wife balances me out. While she is pretty frugal and does look for deals…she does get me to live a little.
That is cool you get to live on the spender side of things once in a while. Me and the misses are the same, she makes me spend a little more. WIth a name like livingrichcheaply you have to spend some $$ right,
